What’s Happening in October: A Letter from Executive Director Desiree Eden Ocampo
Dear friends,
In alignment with our 2024-27 Strategic Plan, I am writing to share an update about how we are preparing for Rose Haven’s next 30 years.
We are looking forward to celebrating our 30th anniversary next year, and our goal is not only to meet our guests’ needs today, but to serve in a way that makes a sustained difference. To ensure we have the operational blueprint for compassionate care of our most marginalized neighbors for another 30 years, our leadership team has structured a strategic reset period.
We will temporarily pause day shelter services from October 12 through November 6, and welcome guests back onsite on Monday, November 9 at 8am.
The first half of the pause will focus on staff’s collective recovery, rest and reset, so they can show up as their healthiest selves, which is what our community deserves. It is followed by in-service weeks for staff to collaborate on ways to strengthen our models of care.
Your ongoing financial support and this strategic pause are both vital investments in Rose Haven’s transformative work. These investments address burnout, renew capacity, and equip Rose Haven with the resilience and innovation required for long-term success.
I invite you to join us for Branching Out, an open house celebration on Thursday, November 12 to meet our incredible team and learn more about how we are meeting this moment and preparing for the future. Please be on the lookout for more details to come.
Thank you for your trust and unwavering partnership.
With gratitude,
Desiree Eden Ocampo
