Position: Lead Advocate
Report to: Deputy Director
Schedule: Monday through Friday (8am-4:30pm)
Hours: Full Time
FSLA Status: Exempt

Compensation:

Rose Haven is seeking a committed, outgoing, responsible, and experienced professional to provide oversight of the Advocacy Program, including supervision to advocate staff, social work interns, and individual advocacy services to guests requesting support. The Lead Advocate will work directly on-site, with guests of Rose Haven who may be experiencing homelessness and other traumas who are in need of a safe setting to find refuge and resources during the day.

Primary Responsibilities:
 Provide 1:1 direct support for all new and returning guests through intakes and advocacy
meetings through a drop-in, first come first served model of access and maintain daily data
entry of intakes and documentation of advocacy appointments in guest management system
 Connect guests to local and community resources
 An understanding or willingness to learn about local resources and developing meaningful
relationships with partner agencies, representing the agency in multi- agency collaborations
 Respond to guests experiencing acute crisis or escalated/unregulated states through a trauma
informed and strengths-based approach
 Work with the Deputy Director in developing the advocacy program
 Provide regular 1:1 supervision for two full time advocate staff members
 Consult with the Deputy Director in developing and implementing an annual staff training
calendar
 Work with the Advocate staff in developing and implementing advocacy services for guests
 Compassionately maintain professional boundaries, with respect to confidentiality and agency
policies and protocols
 Lead regular advocacy department meetings
 Active participation in staff team meetings, team debriefs and individual supervision
 Seek out learning opportunities that strengthen knowledge and practice within the context of
program services
 Maintain accurate reporting and fiscal management of monthly direct service expense budgets
 Maintain partnerships with local Schools of Social Work to recruit interns, and provide
supervision and support to social work interns
 Cross train and rotate (as needed) in all program areas
 Support agency wide annual events, holidays and fundraisers including Reigning Roses Mother’s Day walk each year
 Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
 Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field, (Masters in Social Work
strongly preferred) plus minimum of 3 years of experience working in a social service setting.
 Experience providing direct supervision to staff and social work interns
 Knowledge of resources to serve women, children and marginalized genders, including but not
limited to: experiencing homelessness, domestic and sexual violence, physical and mental health
challenges, and recovery support system
 Understands and supports the mission, values, principles and community agreements of Rose
Haven
 Crisis management skills including non-Violent Crisis Intervention or De-Escalation
skills/experience
 Demonstrates cultural humility toward the diversity of human experience including race,
religion, ethnicity, mental/physical abilities, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, education
and cultural heritage
 Communicates with intention and attention to detail both in writing and verbally
 Demonstrates relevant computer/technology literacy and proficiency, including Microsoft Office
 Demonstrates an ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously
 Demonstrates clear and open interpersonal and communication skills
 Demonstrates competency and enthusiasm in area of team building and supports a
collaborative service model
 Understand the effects of trauma and how trauma can impact homelessness and poverty
 Ability to work in a fast paced environment with multiple priority areas
 Obtain CPR Certification and Food Handler Card within first 6 months of employment

Preferred Skills:
 Masters In Social Work
 Bilingual (Spanish)
 Previous experience working with vulnerable, marginalized and/or unhoused populations
 Ability to lift 20+ pounds, stand, walk, sit and bend, occasionally for a few hours at a time
