Position: Advocate
Report to: Lead Advocate
Schedule: Monday through Friday (8am-4:30pm)
Hours: 40 hours per week
FSLA Status: Non-exempt

Compensation:
Hourly rate of $18-20/ DOE, (0.50cent/hour increase for bilingual skills) with generous medical and dental benefits, paid holidays, vacation and sick time.

Primary Purpose:
Rose Haven is seeking a passionate, outgoing, responsible, and experienced professional to provide individual advocacy services to guests requesting support through a low-barrier, drop in, first come first served model. The Advocate will work directly on-site, with guests of Rose Haven who may be experiencing homelessness and other traumas who are in need of a safe setting to find refuge and resources during the day.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 direct support for all new and returning guests through intakes and advocacy meetings through a drop-in, first come first served model of access
Respond to guests experiencing acute crisis or escalated/unregulated states through a trauma informed and strengths-based approach
 Connect guests to local and community resources
 Develop and maintain meaningful relationships with staff of partner agencies
 Work with the Lead Advocate in developing and implementing advocacy services for guests
 Compassionately maintain professional boundaries, with respect to confidentiality and agency policies and protocols
 Active participation in staff team meetings, team debriefs and individual supervision
 Seek out learning opportunities that strengthen knowledge and practice within the context of program services
 Maintain daily data entry of intakes and advocacy appointments in guest management system
 Provide support to social work interns
 Cross train and rotate (as needed) in all program areas
 Support agency wide annual events, holidays and fundraisers
 Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
 Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field plus one year of experience working in social service agency. In lieu of a degree, 3 years of experience working in a social service setting will be considered. Paid and unpaid experiences are both considered.
 Knowledge of resources to serve women, children and marginalized genders, including but not limited to: experiencing homelessness, domestic & sexual violence, physical and mental health challenges, and recovery supports
 Understands and supports the mission, values, principles and community agreements of Rose Haven
 Demonstrates cultural humility toward the diversity of human experience including race, religion, ethnicity, mental/physical abilities, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, education and cultural heritage
 Communicates with intention and attention to detail both in writing and verbally
 Demonstrates relevant computer/technology literacy and proficiency, including Microsoft Office
 Demonstrates an ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously
 Demonstrates clear and open interpersonal and communication skills
 Demonstrates competency and enthusiasm in area of team building and supports a collaborative service model
 Understand the effects of trauma and how trauma can impact homelessness and poverty
 Crisis management skills
Preferred Skills:
 Bilingual (Spanish)
 Previous experience working with vulnerable, marginalized and/or unhoused populations
 Non-Violent Crisis Intervention or De-Escalation skills/experience
 Previous supervisory experience with interns, specifically in social work
 Ability to lift 20+ pounds, stand, walk, sit and bend, occasionally for a few hours at a time
