Position: Lead Advocate 

Report to: Advocacy & Operations Director

Salary: $48,000 – $52,000, dependent on experience

Schedule: Monday through Friday (8am-4:30pm)

Hours: Full Time

Join Rose Haven during an exciting time of growth! We are moving to a brand new location in early 2022 that will allow for expanded programming in a space that has been specially designed for our guests, staff, and volunteers. Rose Haven is seeking a visionary social worker who is excited to grow our Advocacy program and guide a team that offers resource connection, financial assistance, and emotional support.

We work to provide essential services and connections to community resources for women, children and gender diverse people experiencing homelessness, poverty and other traumas. Primary Responsibilities:

Leadership

  • Collaborate with Advocacy & Operations Director to develop Advocacy program
  • Supervise and support Advocate staff members
  • Serve as Field Instructor or Task Supervisor for social work interns
  • Guide Advocate staff and interns in implementing advocacy services for guests
  • Develop meaningful relationships with partnering organizations
  • Collaborate with Advocacy & Operations Director to create monthly direct service budgets and ensure accurate fiscal management of expenses
  • Oversee data reporting within guest management system
  • Coordinate Advocate staff/intern training with Advocacy & Operations Director

Direct Service

  • Provide support for new and returning guests through intake and 1:1 advocacy meetings within a drop-in, first come-first served model of access
  • Offer active, supportive listening to guests’ needs
  • Share your knowledge of local resources with Rose Haven guests and make appropriate referrals/connections
  • Administer financial assistance aligned with organizational policies and processes
  • Maintain daily data entry of intake and advocacy meetings in guest management system
  • Set and hold professional boundaries and agency policies compassionately
  • Respond to guests experiencing acute crisis or escalated/unregulated states through a trauma informed and strengths-based approach
  • Debrief as needed with Advocate staff after challenging guest interactions
  • Seek ongoing learning to strengthen knowledge of local resources, trauma-informed care, and serving people with barriers related to homelessness, mental health, and substance use
  • Serve guests in other program areas (as needed)

Other

  • Support organizational special guest events and fundraising activities (as needed)
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work (Masters in Social Work preferred), plus minimum of 2 years experience working in a social service setting
  • Experience providing direct supervision to staff and social work interns
  • Knowledge of resources to serve women, children and marginalized genders, including but not  limited to: experiencing homelessness, domestic and sexual violence, physical and mental health challenges, and recovery supports
  • Understands and supports the mission, values, principles and community agreements of Rose Haven
  • Crisis management skills, including non-violent crisis intervention or de-escalation  skills/experience
  • Demonstrates cultural humility toward the diversity of human experience including race,  religion, ethnicity, mental/physical abilities, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, education  and cultural heritage
  • Communicates with intention and attention to detail both in writing and verbally
  • Computer/technology literacy and proficiency, including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Clear and open interpersonal and communication skills
  • Competency and enthusiasm for team building, and supports a collaborative service model
  • Understands the effects of trauma and how trauma can impact homelessness and poverty
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with multiple priority areas
  • Willingness to obtain CPR Certification and Food Handler Card within first 6 months of employment

Preferred Skills: 

  • Masters In Social Work
  • Bilingual (Spanish)
  • Previous experience working with vulnerable, marginalized and/or unhoused populations
  • Ability to lift 20+ pounds, stand, walk, sit and bend, occasionally for a few hours at a time

Compensation:  

Salaried position of $48,000-52,000 annually (dependent on experience), with generous medical and dental benefits, as well as paid holidays, vacation, sick time and 401k options.
