Reigning Roses Walk – Sunday May 12th 2019- Castaway
Reigning Roses is a massive online fundraising campaign launching on International Women’s’ Day and culminating on Mothers Day with a 5k walk and celebration to benefit Rose Haven. This event brings together our donors and guests to unite raising awareness and funds for our shelter.
This event has quickly become one of the biggest annual events in NW Portland. After a fabulous reception at Castaway with live music, photo-booth and more, we also embark on a 5k Walk hold matching umbrellas as everyone is enjoying their Mother’s brunch on NW 23rd.
There is no minimum donation to participate, we instead ask that donors ask friends and family through social media to support their ‘team’.
Rose Haven receives no government funding, and relies on individuals and corporate partners to continue serving more than 3,500 women and children annually who are suffering from homelessness, abuse and other life disruptions. As Oregon faces the 2nd highest rate of homelessness in the country this event is a great way to help those who need it most during the current housing crisis.
We hope that you will consider making a financial gift, and rest assured that a dollar to Rose Haven will go further than any other non-profit. We leverage in-kind and volunteer support to keep our overheads costs low- if you divide our annual budget by how many women and children we sere annually the number you get is under 200. So for less than $200 you can serve a woman or child for an entire year at Rose Haven.
Reigning Roses provides operating support to our shelter during a time of great need and rapid growth. Rose Haven’s goal is to provide a sanctuary and resource center for those most marginalized in our community; women, children and gender variant folks experiencing the trauma of homelessness and intersecting issues such as abuse, and poor physical and mental health. Operating with a small staff of 10 and more than 600 active volunteers, our goal in 2019 is to empower more than 3,700 women, children and gender variant folks to pursue a safer and more fulfilling life.
