Classes & Activities

Rose Haven offers BLOOM wellness programs, bringing community partners on-site for constructive empowerment activities for women and children in need.

A variety of classes are offered, designed to create community and help our guests connect over something other than the challenging circumstances that bring them to us.

Rose Haven offers classes such as nutrition, support groups, budgeting, yoga, writing, sewing and creative art programs. These activities help our guests by giving opportunities to learn, be creative, heal, and improve relationships with others and within themselves.

If you have an idea for a class or activity you’d like to bring to Rose Haven, please contact Heather Hilligoss our Program Manager at hhilligoss@rosehaven.org.

Yarn Group

Yarn Group with Cora
Be a part of our community of she/theys sharing laughs and stories over yarn! We specialize in knitting and crochet, but welcome experimentation — in yarn, all things are possible. You need only bring yourself! All materials are provided, and fiber artists of all skill levels — especially beginners — are encouraged to join!
Every Friday at 9:00am – 10:30am

Sewing Group with Mary
Open to anyone who wants to sew a project, learn to sew, refashion or alter clothing, or just talk about sewing, mending, and making stuff. We have fabric, supplies, sewing machines, patterns, and a lot of experience and enthusiasm to share!

Journaling & Art
Rose Haven guests meet with Sister Kathleen and Sister Connie every week for a 90-minute workshop which includes journal writing and incorporating artwork into the journals. In addition to writing according to prompts, guests have made their own journals and enhanced their journals or notebooks with collages and drawings. Guests also share their writings and artwork with the group for everyone to enjoy.

Mini Gua Sha Facials
Offered by Debra Krueger, these mini facials create a therapeutic experience for our guests that focuses primarily on relaxation and nervous system support by way of facial massage. In addition to the relaxation, Gua Sha supports lymphatic stimulation and promotes oxygenation that brightens complexion. Overall treatment includes: Cleanse, warm towels, 20 minutes of massage and finishing products

Support Groups
Led by Rose Haven’s Mental Health Advocates, our support groups offer a safe and non-judgmental space to build community, develop new skills, and receive emotional support from guests with shared life experiences. In addition to rich conversation, groups may include art activities, journaling, and grounding exercises. Support groups are offered weekly as a series of 5-8 groups or on an ongoing basis. Past topics have included: mindfulness, life transitions, forgiveness, living outside, and LGBTQ+ support.

DHS Family Coach
Every Wednesday afternoon, a DHS Family Coach visits Rose Haven to meet one-on-one with parents seeking support. The Family Coach can offer eligible guests longer term case management to address the unique obstacles of parenthood, including assisting folks in creating a care plan, providing supportive services, and connecting to family specific financial resources.

OHP Enrollment
In partnership with Project Access Now, our Community Health Worker Etta is onsite every 2 weeks to help folks navigate healthcare questions, enroll in Oregon Health Plan and other assistance programs, and make referrals to community services. Etta also offers vision screenings to help promote eye health.
