Int. Women’s Day: Cheers to the Rose Haven Women and the Future!

Happy International Women’s Day from the Rose Haven community!

Today, and every day, we recognize the strength and power women hold and honor the work so many women have contributed to making a more equitable world for all of us. At Rose Haven, we serve incredible women with wisdom-filled life stories, unwavering resilience, compassionate hearts, and individuality. We have inspiring and dedicated women on our staff and in our volunteer base who show up every day ready to take on whatever challenges that are thrown our way.

It’s impossible to capture the entirety of these women’s experiences and how Rose Haven services have impacted them, but to give you some insight into the work here’s our 2020 Annual Report!

Rose Haven Annual Report 2020

This report highlights how we pivoted services to safely accommodate our guests during the pandemic, our dedication to learning and investing in diversity equity and inclusion with a racial equity lens, stories of our guests’ successes and the impact of our programming.

At Rose Haven we acknowledge and celebrate the experiences of ALL women. Often times the women most marginalized by systemic injustice are left out of important conversations and actions. This is why we serve and uplift women of all identities including trans-women, femme and non-femme expressing women, Black women, Latinx women, Indigenous women, women of color, queer women, women of different ability and intersex women.

We’ll continue our work to empower women with a framework that recognizes all the multifaceted  identities and experiences of women experiencing homelessness and poverty. One of the steps we’ve taken to execute this mission is renovating and moving into our NEW SPACE at 1740 NW Glisan St. to bring dignified services indoors. This will allow women who have been completely locked outside for the past 12 months to come inside to a safe space, build community and still follow COVID-19 safety protocols. There’s still a lot of work to be done on creating the dream space that is trauma-informed and accessible, and WE NEED YOUR HELP.

Please consider giving towards this project in honor of International Women’s Day, the women we serve and the amazing women in your own life.
