Rose Haven is currently seeking a passionate, outgoing, responsible, and experienced professional to assist with the coordination and expansion of Rose Haven’s BLOOM Program. The BLOOM Program is one that offers workshops and programming around health and wellness, connecting various agencies and businesses to bring more comprehensive services on-site, reducing the barrier of access to resources to those that we serve.  The BLOOM Coordinator will work with women, sometimes with children, who may be experiencing homelessness who are in need of a safe setting to find refuge and resources during the day.  Position is 32 hours per week with a generous benefits package.

Key Responsibilities

Specific Responsibilities: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Rose Haven’s BLOOM Program:

° Create and maintain programming for BLOOM, the Rose Haven wellness and empowerment program

° Develop monthly themed workshops around designated topics

° Connect, outreach and collaborate with various agencies and business to bring more comprehensive services on-site, including topics such as but not limited to: medical/dental services, financial empowerment/literacy, mental/emotional health and well-being, holistic and creative expression, and more

° Work with Volunteer Coordinator, as needed, to schedule volunteers for BLOOM activities

° Provide guests with orientation to agency and information about accessing available services through intakes and advocacy

° Respond to calls and inquiries about donations and assist during drop-off times

° Respond to phone requests and on-site emergencies

° Assist with planning of special events and fundraisers (as needed)

Physical/Mental Requirements

° Hearing and vision adequate for interaction with guests, staff, volunteers, general public that includes telephone and computer work

° Ability to sit, walk, bend, stand, reach, stoop, pull, squat and climb stairs

° Ability to lift 30+ lbs.

Performance Responsibilities

° Experience working with marginalized communities, specifically those experiencing homelessness, as well as those who may have mental health challenges

° Proven ability to form positive relationships with guests, staff and volunteers

° Demonstrated problem solving, conflict mediation, boundary setting and crisis management skills

° Ability to be firm and assertive in a respectful manner

° Able to speak, read, and write and understand English

° Strong understanding of/commitment to Rose Haven’s mission of supporting and empowering women and children experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity

° Ability to work successfully in a collaborative, team-orientated organization

° Ability to be proactive and work independently

° Commitment to racial equity and social justice, welcoming any guest who identifies as a woman, including transgender and gender-variant individuals

° Models positive behavior, leads by examples and remains calm in times of crisis

° Maintains a professional level of performance, demeanor and appearance at all times

° Exercises discretion and professional judgment at all times in keeping with the responsibilities carried personally and by the agency for the care and welfare of women, children, families and staff

° Demonstrated ability to exhibit compassion, understanding and empathy while working with diverse staff and guests in a multi-cultural environment

° Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule as needed; other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

° The right individual for this position has a passion for helping others, is nonjudgmental, and able to deal with difficult situation in positive and constructive ways

° Bachelor’s degree

° Experience working with homeless/low-income populations helpful

° A basic understanding of the issues surrounding homelessness, chemical dependency, mental health, domestic violence and sexual assault or a willingness to learn

° Demonstrated ability to work independently

° Demonstrated ability to obtain knowledge about the social service that are available in the Portland metro area

° Computer and office equipment literacy (Microsoft Office, database, email and internet)

° Excellent oral, written and telephone communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills.
